Internships

Internships provide students an opportunity to gain work experience and knowledge of state government that could lead to a career in public service. Sponsoring agencies benefit by attracting bright, talented and highly motivated individuals who can contribute to their agency goals.

Informal Internships

Internships provide state employers the opportunity to hire students in various fields to explore public sector work. Internships are typically filled as non-permanent appointments and may be paid or unpaid. There is no centralized source for applying for internships. Agencies who choose to use internships market them individually. Some employers may post internship opportunities on the careers.wa.gov site. Students can find out more about internships through their college placement or work study office.
