Learning and growth
Take advantage of extensive learning opportunities–on the job, online, and in the classroom–to help you keep pace in your current field and to prepare for new career opportunities.
As your knowledge and skills grow, so will your options. You’ll likely find opportunities for advancement within your own agency, or you can check out similar jobs in other agencies.
Even if you decide to make a radical turn in your career path, you can change agencies and still maintain your vacation, retirement, and other benefits.
Flexible work hours
Many agencies provide flexible work hours (flex-time) and telecommuting options. While most state agencies operate on an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule, many state organizations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offer a wider variety of shift options.
Internships
Internships provide students an opportunity to gain work experience and knowledge of state government that could lead to a career in public service. Sponsoring agencies benefit by attracting bright, talented and highly motivated individuals who can contribute to their agency goals. Learn more…
